It isn't uncommon to leave something behind in an Uber. It happens. However, this couple filmed themselves taking matters into their own hands after one of them left a phone in the car.

Natalia Amaya (@natalia.amayaa) posted a video showing how she and her boyfriend tried to chase down their Uber driver because he wasn't answering their calls.

Think we’re gonna find it?

"When you leave your phone in the Uber and the driver isn't answering so you follow the phone on find my iPhone to chase this guy down," Amaya wrote in her post.

A few days later, she posted an update detailing how far she and her boyfriend went to retrieve her phone.

The couple followed the Uber driver along his next pickup, but couldn't catch up to him quickly. They ended up driving to the airport just to get close to their driver, which ended up providing some issues.

"Uber drivers enter through a different section, so at that gate, I was so worried we weren't going to be able to follow him," she said. "I got out of the car and started chasing him all the way down to passenger drop-off.

Her boyfriend was able to get through the checkpoint, leading to them getting the phone back.

"Running past a security checkpoint at an airport crazy," replied @hayesbu.

According to Uber's Lost and Found Index, phones are the second most forgotten item in Ubers this year — as clothing is in the top spot. Uber is used to passengers leaving belongings behind and has a system in place so that they don't have to get involved in a car chase.

Uber asks passengers to fill out a form online, which then allows them to share their phone number with the driver. Then, they’ll contact the passenger directly and can set up a meeting. With this strategy, the passenger may be charged again to account for the second trip the driver would make. Lyft doesn't require users to fill a form, allowing them to contact the driver for up to 24 hours after the ride.

With the phone back in Amaya's hand, viewers marveled at their effort to get close to the Uber driver.

"You’re like secret agents! Epic chase," replied @arcadefriends.
